Visitors since Wednesday include: Pine Siskin 5 today - my highest number for the year Goldfinch 20 or more White Throated Sparrow 60 or more Towhee 1 Song Sparrow 4 House Finch 12 Mourning Dove 8 Cardinal 6 Red-breasted Nuthatch 1 White-breasted Nuthatch 2 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Downy Woodpecker 2 Sharp-shinned Hawk 1 But - way too many blackbirds have also come: Red-winged Blackbirds 300+ Cowbirds 40+ Common Grackles 12 Is there any way to discourage the hordes of blackbirds? In late spring last year, the flocks of several thousand found my feeders, and dominated the place so much that I decreased and eventually terminated feeding much earlier than I really would have preferred. Has anyone shared or solved this problem?
