I arrived at 12:45 +/-, missing the bird by 2 minutes. The flocks of scaup were flying out of the inlet and down river. No telling where they landed. Definitely worth checking for. I'm heading to Spain in an hour, so I won't be able to look for the week. Would appreciate it others put a GPS receiver on the bird and kept track of it while I'm gone (I'll be back on the 7th) ;-) Paul Pisano cheep@erols.com Bill Dobbins wrote: > > Hi All, > I was birding this morning with Joe Halpin and Bobbie Hughes and Joe first > spotted a male Tufted Duck at the Washington Sailing Marina just south of > National Airport. > It had intensely white sides, a very black back, and a almost complete tuft > on the head, suggesting that it may be just short of full adult status.
