Halpin" Subject: TUFTED DUCK MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit A TD was seen from about 10:15 to 12:15 this morning on the north end of the Washington Sailing Marina (just south of the Reagan Airport of the G. Washington Memorial Pkwy and north of Alexandria, VA). The distances from the seawall varied between 30-100 feet. Great views of the tuft but the bill was not seen; it was always tucked. The adult male bird was seen in a flock of about 100 Lesser Scaup. An all black bird with yellow eye and large white side panel with a slight white triangle in front of the wing. This bird stood out among the Scaup. Other observers were Bill Dobbins and Bobby Hughes.
