It was on Gill's Neck Road, which turns east from Rte. 9 at the new Cape Henlopen High School. The bird was with 5000+ Snow Geese and a smattering of Canada Geese. The flock of birds is in the large field at the corner of Rte. 9 and Gill's Neck Road. The Ross's Goose was about 100 yds. past the couple of ranch houses on the left side of Gill's Neck Road just after you turn off Rte. 9. The bird was within 100 feet of the road, else we wouldn't have seen it. There was an Eared Grebe at the west end of Ocean City Inlet. It was with 4 Horned Grebe so is easy to pick out. Look first for the way it rides on it water. It seems to have its rear end raised above the rest of the body; i.e., the body slopes forward from the rear to the neck. No Eiders at the Inlet, but 4 or 5 male Harlequin Ducks were there. These was a female Common Merganser at the south Ocean Pines pond. The pond is freezing fast, so it might not be there with the 1000+ other waterfowl for long.
