Combined ANS/SMAS trip today to Ocean City up the coast to Cape Henlopen was fun. Quite a few hardy souls braved the brisk weather and were duly rewarded with good birds. Here's a short summary: EARED GREBE - west end of O.C. inlet RED KNOT - on rocks just below boardwalk on north side of jetty (everyone got close views!) COMMON MERGANSER - 1 female at Ocean Pines pond MUTE SWAN - Ocean Pines pond (for you county listers!) HARLEQUIN DUCK - 6 males and 1 female at O.C. inlet (no eiders) COMMON BLACK-HEADED GULL - 2 adults in basic plumage with a group of Bonaparte's at Indian River inlet (no Snowy Owl at Burton Island) GREAT CORMORANT (3 ad; 1 imm. at Indian River inlet on the scaffolding) -Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
