I saw one chasing birds at my work feeders today. Rodents are a little harder to find then birds when the ground is covered. The Red-shouldred Hawk (RSHA) will eat rodents, reptiles, amphibians, crustaceans, birds and any road kill. Many buteos loose their lives every winter eating road kill. They have also been known to eat insects. RHSA are caught by hawk banders using pigeons or starlings. This is probably one of the only good things either of these introduced birds are good for (personal opinion, sorry if this offends anyone). Their diet and habitat are almost identical to their night shift counterpart the Barred Owl.
