MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hello fellow Ospreyers, It February and the time of year again that love is in the aerie, so keep your eye out for those aerial eagle courtship displays. A number of years ago I heard a rumor in Upstate New York about an immature Bald Eagle sharing with a pair of adults in the rearing of eaglets. Did anyone else hear this rumor, and/or know of any documented cases of this behavior in the wild? While driving to work yesterday morning, I noticed one of the adult Bald Eagles on the nest located near the off ramp from 295 to MD 210/Indian Head Highway near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge in Oxon Hill. Due to it's high traffic area and proximity to the soon to be largest Potomac River development in Maryland, we birders should keep an eye on the progress of this nest. With the recent human destruction of a neighboring eagle nest, what is to stop developers from throwing dirt in the faces of USFWS and DNR and just paying the fine?
