Date: Sat, 5 Feb 2000 21:23:58 -0500 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Leslie Roslund Subject: Talbot County Chapter Visited Ocean City and Indian River I= nlet MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit The Talbot County Chapter of MOS birded several Ocean City sites and later checked out Indian River Inlet, with the following results: Approx 75 Species total; highlighted by : Harlequin Ducks (OC) 5 - at the west end of the jetty, bes= ide the motel Purple Sandpipers (OC) Bonaparte's Gulls (OC) All three of the possible Merganser Species - Several Hooded and = one F Common in the West Ocean City ponds; Red-breasted at the OC Jetty Immature Black-crowned Night Heron - Indian River Inlet Adult Glaucous Gull - resting on the ice of the Indian River Inle= t pond between the Marina and Route 1. This very white, large gull was in the company of about two dozen Herring Gulls, so pretty easy to spot. No success in our search for Black-headed Gull at Indian River Inlet, but our group did not arrive there until mid-afternoon.
