I spent late afternoon today at Loch Raven reservoir.  99% of the lake
is covered with ice, but there is an area of open water across from
Bridge #1 (Loch Raven drive, near the public use area).  Nice
concentration of waterfowl here.  I saw:

pied-billed grebe--    3
Canada goose--       300+
mallard                6
Am. wigeon            80+
ring-necked duck     120+
redhead               34
hooded merg.          15
bufflehead             2
coot                 120+

These were the close-in birds.  Hundreds more were just specks in my
scope.
