MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Well, thanks to Dave Czaplak and the Tufted Duck Phone net, Paula and I s= aw our Life Bird Tufted Duck today. Amy Hoffman and the Harvey's phoned us. We phoned another Virginia couple we exchanged numbers with at Belle Have= n Marina. We arrived at the pull off (on the left if you're heading south)= , 6 miles south of South Street in Alexandria, at about 2:00 PM and Dave quic= kly got me on the bird, which was at rest most of the time, though the Tuft w= as clearly visible along with the brilliant white flanks. While we were the= re a couple that had driven up from Richmond, Virginia just happend to be driving by, saw the scopes, stopped. They were very happy when they found= we were viewing the Tufted Duck. They had given up, and were heading home. Finally, a little after 3:00 PM, the bird had drifted east and north far enough to no longer be viewable at this location. I drove back up through Alexandria to see if there were still any birders at the Washington Saili= ng Marina, but could not find anyone still looking. Anyway, I'm in favor of = any technology that keeps me from missing life birds. Everybody, go buy cell phones. Dave, thank you very much for finding this bird ! Amy and the Harvey's , thanks for calling !
