Halpin" Subject: Ruddy Shelduck MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Spent some time on Hains Point (DC) and the C & O Canal around Georgetown yesterday from about 10:30 to 2 PM. The Ruddy Shelduck was found on the lower area of the golf course. The bird was drooping its left wing but when a Red Fox approached within 100 feet, the bird took to wing very easily, flying north. We were unable to relocate it. The Washington Channel was filled with thousands of gulls, but no white winged species. The Canal was dead.
