Although the prominent No Trespassing signs are no longer in evidence and new Visitor signs have been installed, this obviously means visitors to the hospital. In the past we have traditionally limited our birding of this area to a view of the river in the parking lot immediately past the first ( vacant ) guard shack. On the weekend we did drive along the main road to the grounds to further scope out the river, and were not challenged in any way. In order to feel completely comfortable in birding this area regularly, I would think it necessary to obtain permission from the base commander.( Would be a great area for a field trip.) We have never done so, our excursions onto the grounds being infrequent at best. A good view of the same area is also obtainable from the Perryville Community Park. I think a significant increase in birdwatching activities might result in some sort of challenge, so my advice would be to excercise discretion in not using this property frequently.
