I just want to reiterate that I wasn't questioning Ken's ID of the Tufted Duck. I only wanted to point out that a single dark-backed duck in the distant flock of mostly scaup could lead one to jump to the conclusion that they are looking at the Tufted Duck. That's why Al and I went over to Ft. McNair. We never saw a second dark-backed duck despite many scans of the flock from the Haines Pt. side. From Ft. McNair it was difficult to see much of the flock as we were looking right into the sun. My biggest regret is not going back over to Haines Pt. at noon but instead up to the marina! Guess where I'll be tomorrow afternoon? ////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
