Who knows, maybe the debris on the bottom of the old Osprey nest would make a wonderful scrape for nesting. It should be interesting to find where they actually nest under the bridge. If they do use the old Osprey nest, there will be no problem keeping the Osprey away when they return. The Peregrines will be laying any day now and the first Osprey won't be back for about another month. Isn't it exciting to observing bird behavior. I understand a pair of Osprey that nest near the bridge at Solomons were not successful last year. This could be due to their nesting proximity to the new falcon aerie. On occasion the Peregrines were seen harassing Osprey while in flight. By the way Charlie, the bridge at Solomons is the Thomas Johnson Memorial Bridge rather than Jefferson. Good luck to all observing nuptials in this already busy breeding season.
