On my way to the point, I saw an immature Cooper's hawk try for a starling and miss. I got a terrific look through the scope after he landed. Missed the ruddy shelduck. A number of people arrived all at once to see the tufted duck, and there was some discussion of how easy it would be to get on the grounds of Ft. McNair. While we were there, I saw several people with spotting scopes over at the Fort , but I didn't take time to try that venue myself. I did stop briefly at the Patuxent Wildlife Research area on my way back to Baltimore. Most noteworthy were over 64 ring-necked ducks.
