McNair (2/19/00) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit MDOsprey'ers... I was one of the folks at Ft. McNair looking at the Tufted Duck from 40 feet away in beautiful morning sunlight. Fortunately, I also had my camera with me and took about a half a roll of slides of him too. There was absolutely no problem getting onto the base. When I drove up and asked permission to go look at the duck, they waved me right through... no ID check or anything. That is definitely the place to go to see it. Drive down past the housing area on your right and park as close to the point as you can find parking spaces. As the saying goes: "it never hurts to ask". Good birding everyone!
