Finally after 3 previous attempts...I finally saw the Tufted Duck at Hains
Point. Today, February 20th at approximately 1:30 PM, I noticed a small group
of Kowas and one Swarovski pointing across the Washington Channel.
Fortunately they were all focused on the Tufted. I set the scope up and with
a very nice person helping with site direction within one minute the Tufted
was in the scope...a standout duck. All too soon something frightened the
raft of Lesser Scaup and one Tufted and they were in the air. Next time I
will definitely try the Ft. McNair side.
