Just heard an avian ruckus outside and went to investigate. Some crows were mobbing a Red-tailed Hawk in a tree, while not far away our resident Red-shouldered (sitting unmolested) was screaming its objections to these goings-on. It seems like 'tails get mobbed all the time, but RSHA's are usually left pretty much alone. Does this match your observations? By the way, I really like Mike Callahan's proposal ["What a difference..."] to send starlings and House Sparrows back to England -- sounds like a "win-win" deal to me! Or maybe we could offer starlings for sale on the Internet and get people to bid for them. There's a nice healthy flock in my yard right now; make me an offer...!
