Although it was not the lovely 60 degree day predicted we had a great turnout of dedicated birders. The landfill is not accepting household trash now so gulls were almost non-exisitent. We were in search of the ROUGH-LEGGED Hawk and Ralph found it for us in the first five minutes of the trip. Great looks for all through the scope! Then we trudged through the mud and dirt covered fields. We were wll rewarded with wonderful looks at SAVANNNAH SPARROWS. There were a couple dozen that played the "running game" over the ground in front of us, little cover allowed us to see them quite well. A couple gorgeous WHITE-CROWNS, sweet little FIELD, spring happy SONGS and unusually secretive WHITE-THROATS made us forget the wind and cold. A scattering of HORNED LARKS rewarded us with their tinkling songs. Thanks Ralph!, Bonnie Ott Ellicott city ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
