Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2000 21:13:18 -0500 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Phil Davis Subject: MD Review Status of Norther Shrikes Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Maryland Birders - The Maryland/DC Records Committee held it's Annual Meeting yesterday (2/26/2000). Minutes will be available in a few weeks and will be posted on the MOS-MD/DCRC web pages. An announcement will be posted to MD_Osprey when the minutes are ready. In the interim, we wanted to distribute the following message right away: Northern Shrike has been removed from the Maryland review list. We will review all reports already received as of the meeting date. Reports received after 2/26/2000, however, will be classified into our "Non-review Species" category--they will be retained in the committee's files, but will not be circulated for review. The species is an uncommon but regular winter visitor to Maryland. There are approximately 40 published sighting reports or accepted reports in the state. The committee has been considering this move for a few years, however this year's irruption iced the cake. If you observed one of this winter's 11 Maryland sightings and were planning to submit details, you're off the hook ... Thanks.
