However, all this having been said, we were at Calvert Cliffs this am and also pm and the gulls were really too far away to be sure in the mild haze-- we had one smaller gull with the Bonies but in the haze the wing tips were not that easy to make out, even with our Questar. Maybe...maybe not... We tried to get closer through Flag Ponds Park but it was closed and the sign said "no walk-ins" which seems a bit mean-spirited... As far as we were able to tell, someone was at Calvert Cliffs from about 6:30 am to about 10 am, and again from 2:30 to 4 pm with no definite sightings. There were about 100 Bonies (estimated) but most were on the water off Flag Ponds and no more than 20 were ever over the outfall.
