I met Tom Harten there, and Sue Hamilton also put in some time at the scope. Tyler Bell put in a brief appearance, but didn't bring his karma with him this time. There were no more than about 50 Bonies off to the left, mostly sitting in the water near the sandspit. Most of them flew at one time or another, making it pretty apparent that a Little Gull was not among them. Early into our viewing session, Tom pointed out a "different" looking gull, which, when I got the scope on it appeared to have the tell-tale "M" of the immature kittiwake. It was distant, and as it flew directly away, did not offer a very good look, except for the white tail and dark terminal band. Large rafts of scaup, Oldsquaw, and Surf Scoters (with a couple Blacks) were near the plant's outflow. Other birds on the water included Common Loon, Horned Grebe, Canvasback, Common Goldeneye, Ruddy Duck, RB Merg, and the ever-present Buffleheads.
