Unlike Saturday night, the sky was cloudless and bright. Suddenly the V-formation came into view, and was a sight to behold. The magnificent, ghostly white V, flew gracefully northward below the star and planet filled sky. I was in awe of the sighting, and watched until it disappeared into the night and didn't even count them. I would guess between 50 and 60. What a beautiful sight! Isn't nature grand. Osprey showed up on Nanjemoy Creek today only to be chased by a Bald Eagle pair. One of the wintering Red-headed Woodpeckers was observed and the other woodpeckers along with the White-breasted Nuthatch were noticeably visible and vocal while seen chasing each other through the branches and trunks. I guess it won't be long before we hear a song that is heard one time of the year. The song of the Junco as they head to their northern breeding grounds.
