I was birding with a fellow from Sri Lanka, who has only been in the states for 2 months. He is an astute birder but didn't know anyone here who could show him around, and also does not have transportation. We were birding some of the local hotspots; he having a marvelous time with all the new birds, me having nearly as much fun with his delight at each new find. We also had nice views of a male towhee at this same location, and a Blue Jay was a highlight for him. We also had Belted Kingfishers, which we compared with natives species in his country. At Lake Frank we had an Eastern Phoebe and Conrad found us an immature Sharp-shinned Hawk flying low over the dam, which put on a great show for us.We ended the morning with 41 species; nothing terribly unusual but fun just the same.
