Hi Paul, Actually, they do very rarely. Behind my house there are many snipe wintering and they have about a 5-10 minute period in the morning that they fly around "retching" but don't actually display. BUT, every now and then, as spring approaches, one just gets so swept up in the excitement that he does a brief display -- and it is most impressive. Also heard one do a full display up at Finzel in Early May many years ago. Naturally, i couldn't help but think it might be breeding there.
