In the first small patch of woods there was a pair of wood ducks which seemed to be house shopping. They went from tree to tree investigating cavities. We did not find the target Lapland longspur, although Carolyn heard an unfamiliar bird call . That call could have been the described one for the species, however; the sitting and waiting technique didn't produce it. Only field birds were two horned larks (subspecies not deternined). We were not able to locate the tufted duck at Silver Lake or Spring Lake in DE.
