Watched a pair of Crows (they didn't call, so I don't know which) building a nest yesterday. They don't seem to be too active today - the wind is probably too strong. Saw about a dozen flights with various materials going to a pine (I think its a Virginia). They or it (I never saw more than one at a time) used very circuitous routes to get there. The Bald Eagles seem to be a lot more obvious here of late. Is the return of Osprey part of the reason? Like someone to steal from... Heard my first Jug Bay Pine Warbler of the year on Thursday - but Danny probably beat me by a week. The 2 Chipping Sparrows that were at the feeder for several days have left - possibly to the farm end of the sanctuary, where there is more habitat for them. The Songs seem scarcer here, too. Saw a Savannah Sparrow in the meadow by the main entrance today - the only other time I've seen SAVS at this end of the sanctuary was during the big storm when they came to the feeder. Saw a beautiful male Towhee today - first I have seen since the big storm, I believe. Mourning Doves are calling a lot more, and louder than they were a week ago. Some are still "tuning up" I think, but most sounds good.
