These birds are often seen sitting on the wires near the steel span, which is where I saw the bird this morning. You can just make out the top of the nest if you know where to look - in the southeastern-most corner of the steel span (that is, on the downstream side of the bridge, towards the VA border). Something to look forward to on an otherwise depressing Metro ride.
