Highlights follow. J.B. offered to post the list later. Today was cold with some wind and I got my year Gannets at Cobb Island. About six individuals were in good view. Strong winds like yesterday seem to bring more birds up the River. I guess they use the wind for lift and move when they are able to get this lift. The few individuals I get at Cobb Island yearly are going the wrong way. Once they get to the Nice Bridge on the Potamac, they correct their course and head back out to sea or up the bay. They don't like to fly under the bridge. We also had a distant Short-eared Owl at Allen's Fresh (AF). Found my first Blue-winged Teal (Bumpy Oak Road wetland) of the season, but not too many ducks are at Cobb Island. I guess the large ratfs have moved out. Horned Grebe were way down and twenty-five Tundra swans were at AF. I did have my first Lesser Yellowlegs of the year. About six birds at the Bowling Farm (private property) near AF. Had a large Cooper's Hawk at Morgantown, Bald Eagles are common here and about five individuals were found, and a couple Snipe were located. We also had four Foster's Terns at Rock Point. These were the hightlights. Enjoy your birds.
