I heard a Pine Warbler at the National Arboretum on Sunday, March 19. Also present there, in the Anacostia River, was a pair of Wood Ducks, my first local birds of the year. A nice near-adult Bald Eagle flew over. Some really pretty cherries were blooming. Finally, near where an Eastern Phoebe was calling, a cherry tree was hosting two different Tent Caterpillar tents.....in the 40-45* F temperatures the tiny caterpillars moved s o s l o w l y !! At the mouth of Four Mile Run, I saw the pair of Ospreys. One of them carried what looked like a white plastic shopping bag to the nest.
