This morning I saw 3 adult Black-crowned
Night Herons in Montgomery County.  They
were on the island in Lake Whetstone in
Montgomery Village.  The lake is along
Montgomery Village Avenue about 1 mile
East of MD 355 (Frederick Road).  This
same island has supported a Great Blue
Heron rookery for several years.  At
least 8 nests seem to be active now.

Fran, is this the first record this year
for Montgomery County ?
