Date: Fri, 24 Mar 2000 09:06:57 -0800 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: Charlie Subject: Jug Bay hawk tree MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hi folks, some of you familiar with birding the sanctuary may be familiar with the "Hawk Tree" Today I saw an osprey on the tree, making the total number of raptors (including vultures) I have seen on the tree in one year to 9: Turkey Vulture Black Vulture Bald Eagle Red-tailed Hawk Red-shouldered Hawk Cooper's Hawk Sharp-shinned Hawk American Kestrel Osprey It is also a great place to see unconcealed Pileated woodpeckers As you approach the sanctuary on Wrighton Road, the Hawk Tree is on the left, or south side of the road, at the small baseball field. Be sure to check it out next time you visit Jug Bay. BTW, our next bird walk is 8-11 am on Saturday April 1.
