Hi All:
While enjoying the mild temps this am on deck with coffee in hand, a
new yard bird appeared on the horizon, an adult BALD EAGLE, soaring
towards the town of North East. An adult COOPERS HAWK landed in the
cherry trees along the side of the property clutching a freshly caught (
and unfortunate ) Mourning Dove, and proceeded to tear into it. It
seemed to have trouble positioning the prey to its` taste, travelling
along a limb with the MODO flopping awkwardly in its` talons and flew
off for a better " table " elsewhere. Moments later a RED-TAILED HAWK
soared overhead. TREE SWALLOWS provided their chattering to the other
bird sounds as they buzzed and swarmed around a nest box to the rear of
my property. Also enjoyed a male GOLDFINCH in full breeding regalia,
brightest one I`ve seen this season. Enjoy this wonderful spring day,
Leslie Fisher
