It was on the C&O Canal towpath just south of Violette's Lock in Montgomery County. Other highlights this morning, in addition to the pleasant weather, were several RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS and GREEN-WING= ED TEAL on the river near Violette's Lock, a LOUISIANNA WATERTHRUSH north of Riley's Lock (where the Red-shouldered Hawks and Great Horned Owls have nested in the past), a few nice looks at an adult(s?) BALD EAGLE soaring overhead, a PILEATED WOODPECKER (excavating a nesting cavity), COMMON MERGANSER and WINTER WREN near Blockhouse Point, and approximately 60 RUS= TY BLACKBIRDS north of Pennyfield Lock.
