It says "Transient: ... uncommon in the lower part of the Chesapeak= e Bay (St. Mary's, Calvert, Somerset, and Dorchester Counties); rare in the upper part of the Chesapeake Bay--records for Anne Arundel (C. Symington)= , Kent (A.P Sharp), and Queen Annes (A.J. Duvall) Counties. Stewart and Robbins coverage ends on January 1, 1958. The original span = of the Bay Bridge opened in 1952. This seems to indicate that the species m= ay more common in the mid bay now, since I think Anne Arundel sightings are annual. But the bridge "barrier" effect has probably kept the birds on th= e south side, making upper bay sightings as rare as they were in the early half of the century ...??? I'm sort of speculating here ... Bob Ringler could probably provide any other upper bay sighting info from his historical data base, but he's in Costa Rica now ...
