What did the birds look like? Could you see any white epaulet= above the white wing bar on these birds? Black-capped have greater wing coverts and secondaries tha= t are broadly edged in white this time of the year. This is the easiest field mark for me to differen= tial the species. Carolina will sometimes sing only two notes. It is best to see the bird well and not r= ely solely on song where the two could overlap. George >>> "Joseph J. Halpin" 03/31/00 09:50am >>> While biking along the Sligo Creek Parkway last Sunday I heard a two noted (high/low) whistle that I identified as a BC Chickadee via comparison with a taped song. Is this possible/probable? Joe Halpin Silver Spring, MD halpinj @juno.com ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET!
