H= ere it is: Bowie, March 31 =96 Hundreds of birds who plummeted to their deaths near = Bowie may have picked the wrong berries to eat. Motorists say as many as 200 birds fell from the sky yesterday during the afternoon rush hour, landing on the eastbound lanes of U.S. Ro= ute 50, near Bowie. U.S. Geological Survey zoologist Richard Banks says he believes they were cedar waxwings. He says a similar group of birds flew into traffic more than a year a= go after eating fermented berries. The state Department of Natural Resources has not yet identified the birds are determined a cause of death.
