Yes, we've had a good couple of weeks, but the first 10 weeks of 20000 were well below average - even taking the big storm into consideration (we REALLY needed that). Last year, the drought took enormous toll on the water table. a full 25% of the year's rain came in 4 days due to the 2 hurricanes. Most of that simply ran off, and didn't do the water tables as much good as if it had taken a week or so. I would not be surprised, therefore, that many bodies of water are still low, despite 4 inches of rain in March (which really isn't that impressive by March standards) Oh, birding - had Great Egret, 44 Bony's, numerous yellowlegs (both) and snipe at Jug Bay yesterday. Couldn't find Danny's Ibis, but the Caspian Tern that's been around for several days flew 15 feet above my canoe!
