Alas, There were no GWT, and virtually no puddle ducks, to be found at any of the likely locations, e.g. Beauvue ponds, Leonardtown, Long Neck Rd, and Pt Lookout. The Beauvue Ponds area seems to have undergone a lot more mining of the sand, which may be part of the reason there were NO ducks there. But, of course, waterfowl season is just about over anyway, as we found. Pt Lookout did have about 20 each of Surf and Black Scoters, and about 5 Gannets, as well as ~5 Com Loons, ~10 H Grebes. Stopped at Sea Breeze, but no Kelp Gull to be found. We got our first and only B-g Gnatcatchers (3) of the season at Parran Rd, Calvert Co. Marriottsville Rd area: Today, 4/2, I did some local birding around Marriottsville Rd, western Balto Co/ E Carroll at Powells Run Rd, the Liberty Dam trail, and the McKeldin area of Patapsco St Pk. The highlight was a very quiet Catbird at Powell's Run Rd, plus a Fox Sparrow there. I heard 3 La Waterthrushes, but no Yellow-throated Warblers yet. Had a Sapsucker and Br Creeper at McKeldin.
