Bird Club on its annual field trip to Garrett Co. ponds . Highlights: Finzel Swamp: 7 Northern Shoveler - 4 male / 3 female 1 Ruffed Grouse - drumming 1 Common Snipe Piney Dam: 3 Common Loon 9 Northern Shoveler - 5 male / 4 female - probably includes the Finzel birds. 9 Lesser Scaup - 2 male / 7 female 1 Bufflehead - male 1 Osprey 5+ Tree Swallows 3-4 Golden-crowned Kinglet Little Meadows: 2 Pied-billed Grebe 2 Horned Grebe 3 Great Blue Heron 5 Bufflehead - 1 male / 4 female 2 Hooded Merganser - 1 pair 8 Ruddy Duck 25 American Coot New Germany: 6 Ring-necked Duck - all female 1 Purple Finch - male Saturday afternoon I headed for eastern Allegany Co. for birds & butterflies.
