On the Constitution Gardens side there were large flocks of sparrows, primarily Dark-eyed Juncos and Song Sparrows, but also substantial numbers of Chipping Sparrows and a single Field Sparrow. On the DC Veteran's Memorial side there were more Juncos and Song Sparrows, several Brown Thrashers and Eastern Towhees as well as a Pine Warbler, a Ruby-crowned Kinglet and a Yellow-breasted Sapsucker. Scattered everywhere were Northern Flickers, and finally an Osprey was soaring over the National Museum of American History.
