Highlights of my morning were: 11 Yellow-throated Warblers 9 Pine Warblers 4 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 5 Hermit Thrushes 1 White-eyed Vireo 1 Ovenbird 1 Louisiana Waterthrush 2 Eastern Phoebes 2 Green Herons 3 Bald Eagles 1 Brown Creeper There are still some ducks out on the bay but the numbers are low: Bufflehead, Common Goldeneye, one Oldsquaw. Also had two Common Loons and a few Double-crested Cormorants. A few of 15 or so Bonaparte's Gulls have attained breeding plumage. Duncan's Pond had one American Coot, a few Green-winged Teals, Mallards and Gadwalls and lots of turtles. Lots of butterflies too! Abundant Spring Azures also Mourning Cloak, Falcate Orangetip, Eastern Tiger Swallowtails, Spicebush Swallowtail, Zebra Swallowtails and Cabbage White. Also saw a Twin-spotted Spiketail dragonfly and an Eastern Ribbonsnake. The ephemeral wildflowers are on the wane but still abundant in some areas. ////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
