I had to go to work (Bummer) but I wanted to try for a couple of Red-headed Woodpecker shots in flight at Bumpy Oak wetlands first. Both Red-headed Woodpeckers I found at the Bumpy Oak Wetlands did no cooperate. At the wetlands I also encountered Two Pied-billed Grebe, 30 Canada Geese, 10 Gadwall, two Blue-winged Teal, one female American Wigeon, and one Coot. Other birds of note were my first two neotropical warbler. The first was Northern Parula and the second was the vociferous, Louisiana Waterthrush. I also encountered 15 Rusty Blackbirds, a couple of Great-blue Herons, 25 Tree Swallow, an imm. Sharp-tailed Hawk, Swamp Sparrow, several Great-blue Herons, and one Barn Swallow. I heard Purple Martins at the Port Tobacco Marina. The marina is closed but you can here the birds. The MOS trip on April 15 down her may produce 100 species and a day. If interested, call George Jett at 301-843-3524 before 9 :30 PM. Leave a message. Good birding.
