So, I had to bite the bullet and go out into the cold, physical world. I decided to try out Harford Glen, as recommended by Matt Hafner and others, in quest of my close-out Greater Yellowlegs. Well, I didn't find one, but it was quite enjoyable, with some nice sightings (or hearings): 1 Solitary Sandpiper (pretty close, appears to be a new one for the "Comp list" ) 10 Green-winged Teal (Yes, speak of those Devils, close enough to really appreciate their beautiful plumage.) 1 Blue-winged Teal (a county bird for me) 3 Wood Ducks 1 Gadwall 1 Osprey 1 Barred Owl (hooting - another county bird for me) 3 Blue-gray Gnatcatchers 3 Ruby-crowned Kinglets 1 Fox Sparrow (singing - one more county bird for me) 5 Myrtle Warblers (the only warblers) This is a really pleasant place with plenty of habitat for puddle ducks and shorebirds as well as lots of woods. I had only visited it briefly once before. (Per Matt, it is closed Nov 1 to Mar 15). I feel sure another visit or two, preferably on a nicer day, will bag me my Greater Yellowlegs, and probably all kinds of other goodies. I also returned to Perryman Pond, which had: 19 Gadwall 2 Lesser Scaup 1 Bald Eagle Steve Sanford tanager@bcpl.net Randallstown MD ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
