Sheesh! Paul O'Brien This is a good opportunity to influence the direction of the Legacy Open Space Plan for Montgomery County. Please send a letter to Park and Planning if you're interested in participating. We need to get several things out of the plan or at least change their priorities. Economic development is something new that's now crept in. Bob Maryland National Capital Parking and Paving Commission has the following announcement in its latest agenda: "Legacy Open Space Advisory Group Members Needed -- The Department of Park and Planning is currently preparing a Functional Master Plan for Legacy Open Space. This plan will establish the process and criteria for selecting and funding the acquisition of properties or easements on areas of exceptional value for protection of natural resources, water supply, heritage resources, farmland, trail connections and urban open space in Montgomery County. Planning Board is seeking stakeholders representing a broad range of interests including conservation, open space, stewardship, and ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT (When and who determined that Legacy Open Space has any thing to do with economic development?). Individuals interested in serving on an Advisory Group should send a written expression of interest before May 5, 2000, noting relevant organization memberships and experience/expertise to: Marion G. Joyce, Community Relations Manager, MNCPPC 8787 Georgia Ave. Silver Spring, MD 20910 Members of this group should expect to attend 3-5 evening meetings between May and November of this year and annual meetings thereafter.
