MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Another sighting slightly out of our area, but closer than West Virginia. And a great story.... Last Saturday, just before the cold front blew in, found me at the Freedom Aquatic Center in Manasas - took my kids to a birthday party there. After a fun swim, we all gathered in a far corner of the building to celebrate the birthday with cake and song. The room looked out on a cleared strip and some scrubby woods - nice picture windows which, as it turned out, were reflective. We could see out but nothing could see in. As candles sputtered on the cake and we were just about to break into song, one of the kids said, "Hey look!" There, just outside the window, was a Wild Turkey in full display! Displaying, it seems, to his reflection! It's the closest view of a Wild Turkey I've ever had, even the caged birds I've seen. The turkey stuck around for the blowing out of the candles - during which he settled down and found satisfaction in pecking at his reflection. When one of the kids tapped on the glass and yelled "Gobble, Gobble!" the turkey ran away at an amazing speed. It made the miserable trip home through traffic and rain well worthwhile!
