My yard here in St Marys County was rather uneventful (0615-0630)...so I decided to poach down in Kyle Rambo's neck of the woods here in Hollywood, MD (minus Kyle himself, since I decided only this morning on a whim to visit the area). In Kyle's yard were singing Yellow-rumped Warblers, a Wood Thrush, and an Ovenbird. You missed the SWALLOW-TAILED KITE Kyle! Ha! Just kidding! The little trail below Kyle's house was good, as expected this morning (0645-0730). Highlights included: 2 Hooded Warbler 4 Black-and-white Warbler 2 Pine Warbler 10 Ovenbird 8 Yellow-rumped Warbler 2 White-eyed Vireo 1 Louisiana Waterthrush 1 Hermit Thrush (very gray individual with thin, almost imperceptable eye-ring and white-breasted [no buff on flanks] ...portrait view of this bird caused me to think Gray-cheeked on first impression; back cooler hue and tail rusty, but not very contrasty) 4 Wood Thrush No Prothonotary Warblers yet, or Black-throated Greens. I'm off to New Mexico tomorrow for some Birding Therapy...Lesser Prairie-chickens on Saturday at Caprock. If successful, I'll have just one little ABA Code 2 bird left...that dratted little urchin of the NE coast...the Dovekie. Will do a [very] little montane birding in the Rockies. Be back Sunday night. good birding! Greg Miller Hollywood, MD __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send online invitations with Yahoo!
