It was visible from the south side, foraging at the eastern tip of the second island in a secluded little poo= l. It was in close association with the Greater Yellowlegs which I spotted first. Two drake BW Teal were in the same pool. While watching the Dunlin= I heard and then saw a Green Heron across the lake, standing on what appear= ed to be a beaver lodge. The third island had a Spotted Sandpiper working th= e rocky edges. Thanks to everyone who has alerted us to this bird's status. It was worth= a short side trip. But I'm beginning to feel the grip of a new addiction -- county listing. Great. At least now I now what a "close out" is. Yesterday (4/19) I took a day trip (not focused on birding) with the fami= ly to the DE/MD coast. The NE wind was strong with high surf. Indian River I= nlet had 10 Purple Sandpipers and a couple of Forster's Terns. OC Inlet was a little more lively with dozens of Purple Sandpipers, Turnstones and Sanderlings. 6 Black Scoters but not the hoped-for Harlequins. Many DC Cormorants but no Greats. 10+ very active RT Loons and 4 C Loons.
