Perhaps they were all out checking on other real estate in the area ;-) Monday there were a lot of swallows flying north over Rock Creek, as well (not mentioned in my post, sorry ) -- mostly Barns, but we also had a few flocks of Trees and at least one or two Rough-wings. I also saw a Purple Martin at Violette's Locks, flying high overhead up the canal. The gloomy weather of the next few days (if predictions hold) should result in a real opening of the migratory floodgates once we get some sunny, southerly winds! Every woodlot a mini-High Island!
