There were actually quite a few birds around, most of them unfortunately Myrtle-type Yellow-rumps (ca. 120-125), with just a smattering of other species -- 3 Palm Warblers, 1 Worm-eating Warbler, 1 Nashville Warbler, 6 Ovenbirds, ca. 12 Gnatcatchers, ca. 12 Ruby-crowns, 1 Scarlet Tanager, 2 Blue-headed Vireos, 1 Purple Finch (fly-over), 1 Ruby-throated Hummingbird (male), 3 Wood THrushes, 1 Catbird, 10 Towhees. A look at our notes from April 27, 1999, records 18 species of warbler alone that day, including Cerulean and Cape May -- so it is definitely a late spring this year!
